Opinion: E-learning is most valuable for soft-skill development when used to augment other types of learning programs.
What happens in the real world is that people are initially infatuated with the graphics and multimedia effects in a good e-learning product, but get distracted by the pressures of an overloaded work day, and often don't complete e-learning programs.
E-learning is very well suited to technical training and certification programs - where learning objectives are easily measured.
Soft skill development such as sales training is more effective when combined with a remote program or instructor-led classes, to provide an opportunity for interactive questioning, team building, and a subjective evaluation of skills. |
